As part of the Help Us Help the Earth campaign, we thought it best to research exactly what Australia’s water habits are.
We were stunned to find that while 76% of Australians are concerned about our declining water storage levels, 1.3 million of us havetaken no steps to save water in their own home!
Many said that they thought saving water in the home would be expensive, or time consuming but our water tips here show that saving water is simple, easy and in fact ends up saving you money!
Here’s some more statistics from our Roy Morgan research:
- 15 million Australians (15,093,000) aged 14 and over have no idea how much water they are using in their home each quarter.
- 88% of people surveyed have no idea how much water they use.
- 13 million Australians are concerned about declining water levels.
- 76% of people polled are concerned or very concerned about declining water storage levels.
- 4 million Australians (4,054,000) aged 14 plus are not at all or only a little concerned about declining water storage levels.
- 1.3 million Australians have taken no steps at all to save water in their home.
- 4 million Australians say the main reason they haven’t taken steps to reduce water consumption is it’s too expensive.
- 1.5 million Australians say they are too busy to take any water saving measures.
- The survey also shows people clearly are having shorter showers, mulching gardens, putting in dual flush toilets and taking action and the survey shows many people are taking steps to save water.
